look at that bass!

A couple Friday's ago Dan walked through the door around 5:30 pm, looking tired and dejected from a long day at school and before he could sigh I said... "let's go!" Fishing gear and blankets lined the front hall, Jude was all packed up and ready, and keys in hand. He was a little bamboozled.

Off we went to Lake Tamaha right down the road. We fished and had a picnic, black bean &corn pizza (my latest favorite) and fresh-baked chocolate chips cookies (my forever weekly favorite). He got his animo back shortly after he caught his first bass and got a little food in his belly. It was Jude's first fishing trip! He loved it and I think he was thrilled when Dad caught not only one, but three beautiful bass!

First Daddy/Son fishing picture... kind of.

It was almost impossible to get Dan to come in from fishing for dinner!!! Come onnnn....

He was glad he did. :)

such joy!!

Jude was being a sport int he pram. Soo bundled!

We were forced to leave once the son went down...

Dan's famous line.... "Just one more cast!!!"

once upon a september

it was the first day of september and andre and danny were going fishing. rachy had just finished up a long night's work at the hospital, but she just couldn't pass up the fun and decided to forego sleep for a few hours for a playful morning out in nature.
she was feeling a little more silly that usual, but andre and danny just laughed.
they went to a fancy and beautiful private fishing & hunting getaway called zidon ashiva, and they had it alll to themselves...
danny stepped in a red ant hill and got a million little vicious ants on his feet. they were angry too. he made a quick getaway to the lake to rinse them off.
he learned his lesson and decided he's not going to wear flips flops to go fishing anymore.
rachy decided to be the photographer instead of a fisherwoman since her back was hurting. andre and danny didn't give up, even though the fish were being pretty stubborn that day.
ten minutes after we were supposed to leave danny's determination paid off and he caught our first fish! a beautiful bass named rubric. after we all admired him dan gently tossed him back into the water, said thank you and goodbye, and he happily swam away.
andre's fish tricked him and put a whole bunch of weeds on his hook. those fish were feeling very sassy that morning.
andre, danny, and rachy jumped in the car with happy hearts, singing and chatting all the way home. they can't wait to see what their next fishing adventure will bring!

lurleen.

remember how we went camping over spring break? well, here are some pictures! we went with our awesome friends andrew&kelly! we explored the area &ended up at the scenic lakeside retreat Lake Lurleen.

we comandeered our way upon lots of free wood, went fishing, paddle boating/floating, exploring [bear grylls style], lots of R&R (see hammock pics), had the MOST delicious dutch over dinner &cobbler, told campfire stories, dan serenaded us with a little koom-bi-ya around the campfire, widdling, jewelry making, and some pinecone/stick baseball. :]

this was our greatest, most loved hobby. we went exploring into the outskirts of the lake.

the sun was being shy. it got a little chillly.

we are too much.

they are the cutest&best. he widdled a canoe and it floated like a master, no big deal.

we're cute little kiddies.

keep burnin, keep keep burnin love. as you can imagine, this entertained me to the UTMOST possible degree.
we were two inches from the ground. we are SO ALABAMA. does anyone else notice but me??

i know my artsy-ness is totally blowing your mind right now.

it was actually QUITE fun, if i do say so.

2KEWT. check out that homemade widdled stick/spiky ball flower/fishing line& weighters necklace. if you want one just LMK, i'll make you one for $45.

as always.

huckleberry finn & jim.

hurricane creek: one of dan's fishing spots, a really pretty river. he discovered a rope swing on his adventuring there, &it's our favorite!! on friday AND monday we took our fishing poles and our little raft &headed down the creek, fishing as we calmly floated. it was divine. then once we got a ways down the river we get to our final destination [for now, at least]- the rope swing! we then swim, jump, swim, jump, fish, jump, explore, etc.

i caught a NINE pound monstrous catfish from the raft. it was quite terrifying. i excitedly started to reel it in and once i got a glimpse of how monstrous and disgusting it was i nervously made dan finish reeling it in and got all frantic, almost cried &kept saying "don't let it touch me! get it away from me!" that feroucious fish broke the line right before we got him up, which i wasn't heartbroken about. it would have been a LITTLE crowded on that 2 person raft with all 3 of us. needless to say, it was one of the prouder moments of my young life. didn't have the camera on that trip- BUMMER.

the rope swing is our favorite. we swing out so far over the river and i just love the feeling of flying through the air! we even met the guy who made it and he did some rope swings tricks for us. very entertaining.

we then trudge through the woods and walk back up to part of the river where we started. last time i trudged through a barb wire fence (which dan so conveniently stepped over without even realizing). i have some scratches, but i felt pretty tough with bloody scratches on my legs like no big deal. we got sonic after with coupons and they basically paid US to eat there... and they didn't take our coupons so we can go get some more 49 cent milkshakes!

we're huckleberry finn and jim. i'm jim be default. :}
